After living overseas for 24 years I returned to the UK in January 2020 just before lockdown. I love being back in the UK but do miss the warmer weather and blue skies! My running journey started in 2016 with a place for the London Marathon 2017. Since then I have also completed marathons in New York, Berlin and Paris. My favourite places to run are out on the trails, in the hills and the mountains, especially with Lily, my Duck Tolling Retriever. I am a member of the ASICS FrontRunner UK team and an ambassador for Sports Tours International and the National Running Show. I am an advocate of women of a more mature age believing that they are still very capable of achieving dreams and goals, especially after menopause.
I got into running after suffering quite badly with symptoms of the menopause following a hysterectomy. Running became my 'go to' for my emotional well-being. I ran my first half marathon and full marathon age 53 and although it was only ever intended to be a 'one off' bucket list kind of thing it became addictive, especially that finish line feeling and now I couldn't imagine my life without it.
My phone…just in case I get lost!
Peanut butter and banana on toast or a bagel on the morning of a race and pizza or pasta the night before.
Achieving First Female V55 at the second day’s marathon at Race to the Tower in June 2022 was pretty special and totally unexpected.
Hiking in any hills or mountains and Trig Bagging! The Lake District and Chamonix are my favourite places.
